The International Solid Waste Association has recently published two reports summarizing the state of organic residuals (waste) production/treatment and the benefits of applying compost and digestate to soil.
The first two of four total reports are available here:

In the near time, the third report summarizing the state of soils in five countries will also become available with the final report — which will calculate the benefits of applying compost to soil – being available this Spring (a perfect message for International Compost Awareness Week 2020).
